Fawn Mckay
Fawn McKay was born on 15 September 1915 in Ogden, Utah. Born into the Mormon Church's original family Fawn McKay devoted her brilliant literary talents and remarkable researching skills in the creation of an outstanding psycho-historical biographical biography of Joseph Smith, published in 1945, entitled No Man Knows My History. The name was taken from the sermon title delivered by Joseph Smith in 1844. He shocked his hearers with the statement: You do not know me and you've never listened to my heart. My past is not known to anyone. It is not possible for me to reveal it. I wrote the 29-year-old Fawn at the time: Ever since that moment of candor at least three-score writers have picked up the challenge. These documents are not lacking, they just contradict each other. It's not an easy task to put together these documents by separating the first-hand versions from copies that are third-hand and integrating Mormon narratives with non-Mormon ones into a coherent collage. It is both exciting and instructive. It's a task which Fawn Brodie devoted herself professionally. Thaddeus Steves was a world celebrity as a result of her research and her work. The DevilDrives. Thomas Jefferson. The intimate Histories (1974) as well as Richard Nixon.
