Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host and also the proprietor and publisher of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was Greece she was able to move to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. She was the first person non-UK to serve as president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. As a conservative syndicated blogger, after graduating she was able to be a voice of the Huffington Post. Her fame led to the recruitment of a variety of renowned contributors. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections in order to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she led a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient cars. Forbes declared her to be the "most important women" in the media industry and ranked her 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of 100 most influential media people in 2009. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named president of this media group. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she had a close connection to her mother and father but it was their connection that shaped her. As a child, she showed leadership traits that she's still known for. At 16 years of age she relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue her education and was enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's debate societies in the college and eventually was its first foreign female president. In 1972, she graduated with a Master's Degree in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic, and a television host. She was a guest on Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began writing her own novels with his help.
