Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on 22nd March 1976 is an American actress. She has received many awards, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in the years 2006 and 2015 and Forbes included her in the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2021 and 2019. Forbes listed her as the world's richest actress in 2021. Her net worth is estimated at $400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in the year 1991 as she was a teenager. In 1999, Witherspoon made her breakthrough with the character of the supporting actor in Cruel Intentions. She was also known for playing Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) have earned her more attention. In 2005, she gained critical acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a slump in her career where Water for Elephants (2011) was her sole box office hit, Witherspoon decided to make her comeback, producing and play Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film led to her getting a second Academy Award nomination in the category of Best Actress. Since then, she's been working mostly in the field of television, producing and starring in various female-led literary adaptations under the banner of her company Hello Sunshine. They include Big Little Lies (2017-2018), The Morning Show (2019-20) as well as Little Fires Everywhere (2020) and all HBO dramas.
