Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen was born 6 May 1964. He has appeared as Copenhagen mayoral candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing,[1] Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third series of Sherlock, the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix, and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. He was presented with the Reumert Prize of Honour in the year 2011. When he was 27 when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the school in 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series aired globally as The Killing he subsequently appeared in two more internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also played a lead part in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American television show House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. In 2018 he was honored with an International Emmy Award. His part in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje earned him an International Emmy Award. The show was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm.
